About Esbjerg
Esbjerg is a port city on Denmark's west coast, known for its fishing and maritime history and as the gateway to the island of Fanø. The Fisheries and Maritime Museum covers the town's life at sea, and the Lightship Museum lets visitors board an old lightship in the harbour. Esbjerg Art Museum and the Esbjerg Performing Arts Centre share a building in the centre, and the Tarp Bunkermuseum looks at the coast's wartime defences. A day covers the main sights. The centre is walkable and buses reach the museums by the shore. Ferries to Fanø leave from the harbour for a short crossing to beaches and old fishing villages.
