Sanctuary of Fátima

The Sanctuary of Fátima is a Catholic shrine in Cova da Iria, where three shepherd children said they saw the Virgin Mary in 1917. Around its large esplanade stand the small Chapel of the Apparitions, begun in 1919, the Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary with its 65-metre tower, dedicated in 1953, and the larger Basilica of the Most Holy Trinity.
