The Dalí Theatre and Museum fills the shell of Figueres' 19th-century municipal theatre, burnt out in 1939 at the end of the Spanish Civil War, which Salvador Dalí rebuilt as a museum of his own work; it opened in 1974. A glass geodesic dome rises over the former stage, and Dalí is buried in a crypt beneath it.

Sant Ferran Castle is a bastioned fortress on a hill above Figueres, begun in 1753 and named after King Ferdinand VI; the military engineers Pedro and Juan Martín Cermeño directed the work. Its outer perimeter runs for over 3 km, and on 1 February 1939 the Spanish Republic's parliament held its last session inside its walls.

The Toy Museum of Catalonia occupies the former Hotel París on the Rambla of Figueres, a mansion built in 1767 and run as a hotel from 1901. It grew from the private collection of Josep Maria Joan Rosa and opened in 1982; its three floors hold toys and games given by more than 900 donors, including a teddy bear that belonged to Salvador Dalí.
