Kaymaklı Underground City

Kaymaklı Underground City lies under the village of Kaymaklı on the Nevşehir–Niğde road, about 20 km south of Göreme. Its rooms and narrow tunnels, cut into the tuff and enlarged in Roman and Byzantine times, spread over eight levels; four lit levels with storerooms, wine cellars, water wells, a chapel and rolling stone doors are open to visitors.
