Mather Point

Mather Point is a viewpoint on a rocky promontory of the South Rim, a short walk from the Grand Canyon Visitor Center and usually the first view of the canyon for visitors arriving from the south entrance. Railed terraces reach out over the drop, looking across to the North Rim. It is named after Stephen Mather, the first director of the National Park Service.
