Grand Canyon National Park
Grand Canyon National Park, established in 1919 and a World Heritage Site since 1979, protects the gorge the Colorado River has cut through northern Arizona: about 446 km long and up to 1.8 km deep. The South Rim, open all year, has Grand Canyon Village, a paved Rim Trail, shuttle buses and a chain of viewpoints along Hermit Road and Desert View Drive.
