Pyramids of Güímar
The Pyramids of Güímar are six terraced, rectangular structures of lava stone laid without mortar in the Chacona district of Güímar, in eastern Tenerife. Historians date them to the 19th century; the explorer Thor Heyerdahl argued they were step pyramids and helped set up the park in the 1990s. An ethnographic park with exhibitions and botanical gardens now surrounds them.
