The twin-towered Church of Saint Ignatius of Loyola stands on Széchenyi tér, Győr's main square. Jesuits built it in 1634–1641 to plans by Baccio del Bianco, and Benedictines have held it since 1802. Inside are ceiling frescoes and a high altarpiece painted by Paul Troger in 1744–1747, a pulpit of 1749 and an organ of 1757.

Győr's cathedral stands on Chapter Hill (Káptalandomb) above the meeting of the Rába and the Mosoni-Duna. Founded in the 11th century and rebuilt in Gothic and then Baroque form, it has ceiling frescoes by Franz Anton Maulbertsch and the Gothic Héderváry Chapel, which holds the herm reliquary of King Saint Ladislaus.
