The largest church in Heidelberg, built between 1398 and 1515 in the Romanesque and Gothic styles on the market square of the old town. Planned as the burial place of the Electors Palatine and the original home of the Bibliotheca Palatina, it was divided by an internal wall for three centuries so Catholic and Protestant congregations could worship side by side.

The Old Bridge (Alte Brücke) is a sandstone arch bridge over the Neckar in Heidelberg, linking the Old City to the Neuenheim district. The present structure, the ninth built on this site, was completed in 1788 under Elector Charles Theodore. Medieval gate towers stand at its south end, and a bronze monkey statue by Gernot Rumpf marks the north bank.

A ruined Renaissance castle on the Königstuhl hillside above Heidelberg's old town, first built before 1214 and expanded into two castles around 1294. Lightning destroyed the upper castle in 1537, and later fires and wartime demolition in the 17th and 18th centuries left it in ruins; a funicular railway from the Kornmarkt now reaches the castle terrace.
