Independence Palace

The Independence Palace in central Ho Chi Minh City was the residence and office of the president of South Vietnam. Designed by Ngô Viết Thụ and inaugurated in 1966, it is where the Vietnam War ended on 30 April 1975, when a tank broke through its gates. Visitors see the state rooms, the presidential living quarters and the command rooms in the basement.
