Xá Lợi Pagoda

Xá Lợi Pagoda in District 3 of Ho Chi Minh City was built in 1956–1958 to enshrine relics of the Buddha and was the headquarters of Buddhism in South Vietnam. On 21 August 1963 it was raided by special forces loyal to Ngô Đình Nhu during the Buddhist crisis. The main hall upstairs holds a large seated Buddha, and a bell tower rises beside it.
