Stokksnes

Stokksnes is a headland about 12 km east of Höfn, below the jagged Vestrahorn ridge, with a black sand beach, grass-tufted dunes and a lighthouse. A radar station was built at its tip in 1955 and is still used by the Iceland Air Defence System. The land is private: access is on a gravel road past the Viking Café at Horni, which collects an entrance fee.
