The Old Village (Ófalu) of Hollókő, in the Cserhát hills, is a Palóc village whose 67 protected whitewashed houses with wooden porches line two streets, rebuilt in their present form after a fire in 1909. A UNESCO World Heritage site since 1987, it is lived in; some houses hold small museums and craft workshops around the wooden-towered church.

Hollókő Castle stands on a rock above the village of Hollókő in the Cserhát hills. Its keep was built by the Kacsics clan after the Mongol invasion of 1241–42; first recorded in 1310, the castle was held by the Ottomans from 1552, partly demolished in 1711 and restored from 1970. Visitors walk its courtyards and walls and climb the keep.
