Ásbyrgi

Ásbyrgi is a horseshoe-shaped canyon in Vatnajökull National Park, about 38 km east of Húsavík. It is 3.5 km long and about 1.1 km wide, with cliffs up to 100 m high, a birch and willow wood and the pond Botnstjörn at its head. Outburst floods of the Jökulsá á Fjöllum carved it, and the rock ridge Eyjan divides it in the middle.
