Theodosius Cistern
The Theodosius Cistern was built between 428 and 443 under Emperor Theodosius II to store water brought by the Valens Aqueduct for the Great Palace and nearby baths. Its roof of 45 brick vaults rests on 32 marble columns with Corinthian capitals. Restored by the Fatih district council, it is open to visitors and hosts digital light projections on its walls and columns.
