About Sun Moon Lake

Sun Moon Lake is Taiwan's largest lake, a reservoir in the central mountains of Nantou County ringed by temples, piers and a cycle path. Boats link the piers of Shuishe, Xuanguang and Ita Thao, the village of the Thao people, and a cycle path follows much of the shore. Wenwu Temple rises in tiers above the north shore, and Xuanzang Temple and the Ci En Pagoda stand on the hills to the south. A ropeway climbs from the lake to the Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village, a theme park on Indigenous cultures. Puli, with the Paper Dome, lies to the north.
