Teide National Park
Teide National Park covers about 19,000 hectares in the centre of Tenerife, around Mount Teide, at 3,715 metres the highest peak in Spain. Declared a national park in 1954 and a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2007, it spans the Las Cañadas caldera, lava fields and rock formations such as the Roques de García. Climbing to the summit requires a permit booked in advance.
