Château de Loches
The Château de Loches stands on a rocky spur above the Indre in Loches, inside a walled medieval town. Its 11th-century keep, built by Fulk Nerra, Count of Anjou, rises 37 metres; the Royal Lodge at the north end was a residence of Charles VII and Agnès Sorel. Visitors tour both, the cells of the later state prison and a medieval garden.
