Royal Observatory Greenwich
The Royal Observatory stands on a hill in Greenwich Park; King Charles II commissioned it in 1675, and Flamsteed House, its first building, was completed in 1676 to a design by Christopher Wren. The Prime Meridian passes through the site, which gave its name to Greenwich Mean Time. It is now a museum of astronomy and timekeeping with a planetarium.
