Gran Vía

Gran Vía is a main avenue in central Madrid, running from Calle de Alcalá to Plaza de España, cut through the old city between 1910 and 1929. It is lined with early 20th-century buildings in styles from Vienna Secession and Neo-Mudéjar to Art Deco, among them the domed Metrópolis Building, the Telefónica Building and the Capitol, with theatres, cinemas and shops.
