Abbotsford is the country house of the novelist and poet Sir Walter Scott, on the south bank of the River Tweed near Melrose in the Scottish Borders. Scott built it between 1817 and 1825 in the Scottish Baronial style, with small towers, battlements and carved stones from older buildings set into its walls. Visitors see his library, the walled gardens and the estate walks.

The Great Tapestry of Scotland is a visitor centre on the High Street of Galashiels, opened in 2021 to a design by Page\Park Architects and joined to the town's former post office of 1896. Its first-floor gallery shows the 160 embroidered panels of the tapestry, stitched by about 1,000 volunteers, which trace Scotland's history from prehistory to 2013.
