Regional Museum of Messina

The Regional Museum of Messina traces the art and history of the city, from Greek and Roman finds to medieval sculpture and paintings by Antonello da Messina and Caravaggio, among them the Polyptych of St Gregory and the Raising of Lazarus. Its collection grew with works rescued after the 1908 earthquake, and since 2017 it has occupied a new building on Viale della Libertà.
