La Scala
La Scala is Milan's opera house, designed by Giuseppe Piermarini and inaugurated on 3 August 1778 with Antonio Salieri's Europa riconosciuta. Away from performances, the Museo Teatrale alla Scala shows instruments, costumes and portraits, and when no rehearsal is on visitors can look into the auditorium from a third-tier box.
