Mondoñedo Cathedral

Mondoñedo Cathedral was begun in 1219 and consecrated in 1248, after the bishopric had moved inland from the coast. Its low, broad proportions earned it the nickname of the kneeling cathedral. The Romanesque and Gothic church has a large rose window and a front remodelled in the 18th century with two Baroque towers; the visit includes the cloister and the diocesan museum.
