Abbey of Sant'Antimo

The Abbey of Sant'Antimo is a former Benedictine monastery near Castelnuovo dell'Abate, about 10 km south of Montalcino. Its Romanesque church was begun around 1118 after a bequest from the Ardengheschi family, while the crypt and the so-called Carolingian chapel survive from an earlier building. A community of Olivetan Benedictine monks has lived there since 2016.
