Myrtle Beach State Park
Myrtle Beach State Park, about 6 km south of downtown Myrtle Beach, was the first state park in South Carolina to open, in 1936, with buildings by the Civilian Conservation Corps. It protects one of the last stretches of maritime forest on the Grand Strand, behind a beach with a fishing pier, and has a nature centre, trails and a campground.
