About Myrtle Beach

Myrtle Beach is a resort city on the Atlantic coast of South Carolina, along the beaches of the Grand Strand. The Myrtle Beach Boardwalk runs about 1.9 km along the oceanfront, past the SkyWheel, arcades and Plyler Park. Family Kingdom Amusement Park, on Ocean Boulevard since 1966, keeps the wooden Swamp Fox roller coaster. South of town, Myrtle Beach State Park protects a stretch of maritime forest behind the beach. Further south, near Murrells Inlet, Brookgreen Gardens, founded by Archer and Anna Hyatt Huntington, sets American sculpture among live oaks, and Atalaya, their Moorish-style winter home, stands in Huntington Beach State Park.
