Mount Etna
Mount Etna is an active stratovolcano on the east coast of Sicily and, at about 3,400 metres, the highest mountain in Italy south of the Alps; it has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2013. On its southern flank above Nicolosi, the Silvestri Craters of 1892, the Rifugio Sapienza and a cable car are the starting point for excursions towards the summit.
