Snæfellsjökull National Park

Snæfellsjökull National Park covers 183 km² at the western tip of the Snæfellsnes peninsula, west of Ólafsvík, and was established in 2001. It is centred on Snæfellsjökull, a glacier-capped stratovolcano, and takes in lava fields, craters, sea cliffs and beaches; going onto the glacier requires a guide. Visitor centres are at Hellissandur and Malarrif.
