Ancient Olympia

Ancient Olympia is the sanctuary of Zeus in the valley of the Alpheios in the western Peloponnese, where the Olympic Games were held from 776 BC. Visitors walk among the remains of the temples of Zeus and Hera, the palaestra, the workshop of Phidias and the stadium. The same ticket covers the Archaeological Museum of Olympia and two smaller museums.
