Auschwitz II-Birkenau

Auschwitz II-Birkenau was built by the Germans from 1941 on the site of the village of Brzezinka, 3 km from the main camp; it held most of the killing installations, and the majority of the more than 1.1 million victims of Auschwitz were murdered here. Visitors see the gatehouse, the ramp, barracks, crematoria ruins and a monument. Entry is free with a timed reservation.
