Tindari Archaeological Area
The archaeological area of Tindari holds the remains of Tyndaris, a Greek city founded by Dionysius I of Syracuse around 396 BC on a headland above the Tyrrhenian Sea. A path leads past the city walls, a Roman quarter with houses and baths, a large arched building called the basilica and the Greek theatre, later altered by the Romans.
