Desert Botanical Garden

The Desert Botanical Garden, opened in 1939, covers 56 hectares in Papago Park, about 12 km east of downtown Phoenix. Some 50,000 plants from the world's deserts grow along themed trails, among them the Desert Discovery Loop and the Sonoran Desert Nature Loop, with saguaros, agaves and wildflowers; in December the paths are lit by candle lanterns for Las Noches de las Luminarias.
