About Phoenix

Phoenix is Arizona's capital in the Sonoran Desert, with museums of Native American art, desert gardens and Frank Lloyd Wright's Taliesin West. The Heard Museum and the Phoenix Art Museum stand on Central Avenue north of downtown, near the old State Capitol and the Arizona Science Center. To the east, Papago Park holds the Phoenix Zoo, the Desert Botanical Garden and the red buttes of Hole-in-the-Rock. Camelback Mountain rises between Phoenix and Scottsdale, where Taliesin West lies in the foothills, and the Musical Instrument Museum is in the north of the city. The sights are spread out, so plan on a car.
