Palazzo Piccolomini

Palazzo Piccolomini is the Renaissance palace that Pope Pius II, born Enea Silvio Piccolomini, had built from 1459 to a design by Bernardo Rossellino as part of his rebuilding of Pienza. It stands on Piazza Pio II beside the cathedral. Visitors see the furnished rooms, lived in by the family until 1962, and the three-storey loggia above a hanging garden facing the Val d'Orcia.
