Euphrasian Basilica

The Euphrasian Basilica is the cathedral of Poreč, built between 543 and 554 under Bishop Euphrasius on the site of two earlier churches. The episcopal complex, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997, takes in the atrium, the octagonal baptistery, the bishop's palace and a 16th-century bell tower; the apse is covered in 6th-century gold-ground mosaics.
