Portsmouth Cathedral

Portsmouth Cathedral, dedicated to St Thomas of Canterbury, began as a chapel founded around 1180 in Old Portsmouth. Its tower and nave were rebuilt in 1683–1693 after Civil War damage, and a wooden cupola was added in 1703. It became a cathedral in 1927 and was extended in stages until 1991.
