The Royal Castle stands on Przemysł Hill above the Old Market Square, where Duke Przemysł I began a castle in 1249. Destroyed in 1945, its main building was reconstructed in 2010–2013 and now houses the Museum of Applied Arts, with about 2,000 objects from furniture and glass to arms and dress, and a viewing terrace in the tower.

Poznań Fara is a Baroque church built for the Jesuits between 1651 and 1701 beside their former college in the Old Town; it became a minor basilica in 2010. Inside are tall Corinthian columns, the 17-metre high altar designed by Pompeo Ferrari and an organ built by Friedrich Ladegast in 1876.

The National Museum in Poznań shows painting and sculpture in an eclectic building from 1904 on Marcinkowskiego Avenue and a newer wing. Its Gallery of Polish Art includes works by Jacek Malczewski, Stanisław Wyspiański and Jan Matejko.

The Enigma Cipher Centre is an interactive exhibition about the Enigma cipher machine and the Poznań-trained mathematicians Marian Rejewski, Henryk Zygalski and Jerzy Różycki, who broke its cipher in 1932. It stands on the site where they began work for the Polish Cipher Bureau; a visit with the included audio guide takes about two hours.

The Imperial Castle is a Neo-Romanesque palace completed in 1910 to designs by Franz Schwechten as the Poznań residence of the German Emperor Wilhelm II. Today it is home to the Zamek Culture Centre, and visitors tour its historic halls and courtyards with a map or an audio guide.
