Kawarau Gorge Suspension Bridge

The Kawarau Gorge Suspension Bridge spans the Kawarau River 43 metres above the water, in the Gibbston Valley east of Queenstown. Completed in 1880 for the Central Otago goldfields and bypassed in 1963, it became the first commercial bungy site in 1988; walkers and cyclists on the Queenstown Trail cross it, and a viewing deck overlooks the jumps.
