Fortress of Sagres
The Fortress of Sagres closes off a cliff-bound promontory about one kilometre long near Sagres, at the south-western tip of Portugal. It is linked with Henry the Navigator, who had it built in the 15th century; heavily damaged in the 1755 earthquake, it was rebuilt later that century. Inside are the small Church of Our Lady of Grace and paths along the cliffs.
