Palmitos Park

Palmitos Park is a 20-hectare zoo and botanical garden in the Barranco de los Palmitos, about 10 km inland from Maspalomas in the south of Gran Canaria. Paths lead past palms, cacti, an orchid house, a butterfly house, aviaries and a dolphinarium, and birds of prey fly in an amphitheatre show. A forest fire burned much of the park in 2007; it reopened in August 2008.
