Palmetum of Santa Cruz de Tenerife
The Palmetum of Santa Cruz de Tenerife is a 12-hectare botanical garden of palms on an artificial hill by the sea, built on a municipal landfill that closed in 1983. Planting began in 1995 and the garden opened in 2014. It holds around 600 palm species, many from islands, arranged by region among streams, waterfalls and the half-sunken Octagon shade house.
