Hwaseong Fortress

A fortress wall built from 1794 to 1796 by King Jeongjo around the centre of Suwon, about 30 km south of Seoul, and a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997. A path follows the 5.7-kilometre wall over Paldalsan past four main gates, watchtowers, bastions and a water gate on the Suwoncheon stream, and King Jeongjo's temporary palace stands inside.
