St. Nicholas Fortress

St. Nicholas Fortress stands on the islet of Ljuljevac at the entrance to St. Anthony's Channel, the sea approach to Šibenik. Giangirolamo Sanmicheli designed it after 1525 to keep Ottoman ships out of the harbour. It opened to visitors in 2019, is reached on boat trips from the Šibenik waterfront and is part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
