Svínafellsjökull

Svínafellsjökull is an outlet glacier of Vatnajökull in Öræfi, about 7 km east of Skaftafell, flowing down from Öræfajökull between steep slopes. Its broken tongue ends in a small meltwater lagoon. In 2018 the authorities warned against trips onto the glacier after cracks were found in the Svínafellsheiði slope above it; going onto the ice needs a guide.
