Esterházy Palace

The Esterházy Palace, or Eszterháza, stands in Fertőd, near Sopron. Prince Nikolaus Esterházy expanded a hunting lodge of about 1720 into a horseshoe-shaped Baroque and Rococo residence between 1762 and 1784, and Joseph Haydn worked here as court composer from 1766 to 1790. Visitors see the state rooms, exhibitions and the formal park.
