Sutri Amphitheatre
The Roman amphitheatre of Sutri is cut almost entirely into the tuff rock beside the Via Cassia and probably dates from the 1st century BC. Its elliptical arena is ringed by three tiers of seats, vaulted passages and niches, with room for more than 9,000 spectators. It was dug out by local people in 1835–1838 and lies in the town's archaeological park.
