Sanctuary of the Madonna delle Lacrime

The Sanctuary of the Madonna delle Lacrime is a Marian basilica in Syracuse, built between 1966 and 1994 to a design by the French architects Michel Andrault and Pierre Parat, with a tall conical concrete roof. It houses a plaster image of the Virgin said to have wept in 1953, and a crypt beneath the church.
