Baelo Claudia

Baelo Claudia is the site of a Roman town on the bay of Bolonia in the municipality of Tarifa, founded at the end of the 2nd century BC as a port for trade with North Africa. It lived from tuna fishing, salting and garum, declined after earthquakes and was abandoned by the 6th century. Visitors see the forum, basilica, temples, theatre, baths and salting factory.
