Trim Castle

Trim Castle stands on the south bank of the River Boyne in County Meath and covers about three hectares; Hugh de Lacy and his son Walter built it between 1172 and the 1220s as the seat of the Lordship of Meath. Its three-storey keep, with twenty sides in a cross-shaped plan, rises inside a curtain wall and ditch, and guided tours climb the keep.
